The 2013 Triumph Daytona675R takes Triumph’s Supersport firearm to another with an even angrier
engine, level better handling, faster, easier to ride. It is the first major
update in the meantime launched alongside the standard Daytona 675 release in
2006. Every edge of the machine is dissimilar.
2013 Triumph Daytona 675R Riding Mode |
A new short-stroke engine moving
the exhaust can from under the seat and revs harder has improved handling and agility. It’s an epic machine. The standard Daytona 675 comes using
a more road-oriented chassis and expenses £1700 less. It has10mm lower seat and
the quickshifter, Nissin monobloc brake calipers, milder steering geometry, Kayaba
suspension and ABS is a choice.
2013 Triumph Daytona 675R Steering Control |
An innovative
126bhp three-cylinder 675cc short-stroke engine only makes 2bhp more than previously,
but Triumph has built this bike its revs tougher and is ripe for tuning to go
racing foremost and first. It has a new cylinder gudgeon pins, pistons, block, gearbox,
titanium inlet valves and crankcase oil baffles. There are innovative
twin-injector throttle bodies, ECU and a better central air intake running over
the headstock.
2013 Triumph Daytona 675R Seat |
New
slipper clutches has a two-way upgrade for extra grip and slip off and on the lighter
and throttle clutch springs. The exhaust is moved up and below the engine to help
weight delivery. The motor is less gasping than before in the high and midrange
revs but still has torque buckets. It crucifies straights and flies off corners.
This motor was already one of the best in the business and now it’s even
better.
2013 Triumph Daytona 675R Tweak |
There
aren’t any electronic rider aids aside from the ABS and quickshifter like
traction control or variable power maps, but it doesn’t need them, the Triumph
is that easy to ride. There is adjustable swingarm pivot as well as the Ohlins
and Brembos, a multi-function LCD dash. For the first time the 2013 Triumph Daytona 675R derives with
carbon fiber treats. There is also a wide choice of official decorations
including a race kit.
2013 Triumph Daytona 675R Speedometer |
There
is a noticeable jump in quality but some of the more hidden areas are built
down to a price over the previous Daytona 675R. The 2013 Triumph Daytona 675R was not deprived of its consistency
problems along the way in a few cases, but in general it is a very reliable
machine.
2013 Triumph Daytona 675R Rear Lamp |
For
the performance quantity you get for £10,599, the 2013 Triumph Daytona 675R is outstanding worth for money and the
cheaper standard version even improved. It is calmer to ride better spec’d than
a Suzuki GSX-R750 and Ducati 848 and faster than a liter bike, so it is perhaps
one of the quickest A to B motorbikes you can buy.
